A massive traffic jam brought life to a standstill in the main market of Sara Ranjan block headquarters in Samastipur district on Wednesday. The severity of the gridlock was such that even administrative officials found themselves helpless, with the Sub-Divisional Officer's (SDO) vehicle stuck for approximately half an hour amidst the chaotic traffic.

Eyewitnesses reported that despite the SDO's vehicle continuously blaring its siren to clear a path, the endless queues of vehicles rendered it completely ineffective. Hundreds of small and large vehicles, along with passengers, remained stranded for hours in the market area, severely disrupting daily life. Shoppers, particularly women and the elderly, faced significant inconvenience.

Local residents and commuters highlighted the complete absence of traffic police or personnel to manage the situation, even after hours of congestion. This lack of police presence led to drivers haphazardly moving their vehicles, further exacerbating the problem. Locals criticized the administrative negligence and indifference, stating that even walking had become difficult in the market.

Local traders expressed deep anger and questioned the functioning of the district administration and police department. They stated that traffic jams in Sara Ranjan market are no longer an anomaly but a daily serious issue. Despite long queues of vehicles forming on the main road every day, no concrete administrative action has been taken.

Residents and shopkeepers have urged the district administration to permanently deploy police personnel in the Sara Ranjan market area to ensure smooth traffic flow. They believe that a regular police presence is essential to provide lasting relief from the persistent jams for the public and traders, and to facilitate smoother administrative movement.
