A woman died in a tragic road accident in Samastipur district while returning from her maternal home after celebrating Raksha Bandhan. The incident occurred late Friday night near Peda Chowk, located at Saraiya Pul. The deceased has been identified as Reena Devi (48), wife of Anil Kumar, a resident of Mukhtiyarpur Ward-5 in Dalsinghsarai. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Sarairanjan Police Station.

According to her son, Mrityunjay Kumar, he and his mother had gone to their maternal grandparents' house for Raksha Bandhan. After tying rakhi to his maternal uncle, they were returning home on a motorcycle. On the way, the bike lost balance due to the bright headlights of an oncoming four-wheeler, causing Reena Devi to fall on the road. She sustained severe head injuries. With the help of local residents, she was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. After the post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the family.

ASP Sanjay Pandey stated that a woman died in a road accident. The police are in the process of registering an FIR, and the vehicle involved in the accident has been seized. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
