Survey Begins for Flood-Damaged Roads in Saran, Permanent Repair Planned
A survey has commenced in Bihar's Saran district to assess and plan for the permanent repair and restoration of roads damaged by recent floods. District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava has assigned district-level officers the responsibility of evaluating the condition of roads under various executing agencies, including the Rural Works Department and the Road Construction Department.
These officers will conduct on-site surveys in their allocated areas and prepare detailed reports. The reports will specify damaged sections, areas with potholes, and whether general repair, special repair, or permanent restoration is required. Executive and Assistant Engineers from relevant departments will also be present during the survey to ensure a technical assessment of road damage and accurate determination of repair needs.
The District Magistrate has instructed concerned departments to take swift action based on the survey reports and to submit progress reports on repair works to the district administration. In this regard, Assistant Director of Disaster Management, Anubhav Kumar, recently completed an on-site survey of roads in the Amnour block, his assigned area, and submitted his report. The survey identified three locations under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana requiring road repairs, though traffic flow has been restored temporarily at these spots.
The district administration aims to fully restore flood-affected road connectivity, ensure smooth and safe movement, and provide permanent solutions for damaged roads. All concerned officials and technical departments have been directed to coordinate and act in a timely manner.
