The body of a 14-year-old girl was recovered from a canal in Murliarpur village, under Taraiya police station area in Saran district, on Sunday. The deceased was a resident of Sonajhari village. Her family has alleged that she was raped and murdered, and then her body was thrown into the canal. The family also claimed that acid was thrown on the girl's face and a rope was tied around her waist. Police are investigating these allegations.

According to the family, the girl's mother had filed a kidnapping complaint at Taraiya police station on Saturday after her daughter went missing. Police registered a case and began a search. Following information that the girl had drowned in the Murliarpur canal on Sunday, a search operation was launched with the help of police and local divers, leading to the recovery of the body.

Station House Officer Satyam Pratap took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The victim's mother has accused Mantu Rai, a resident of Shahnewazpur village, of kidnapping her daughter. Upon receiving information about the incident, SDPO Sanjay Kumar Sudhanshu and Inspector Indradev Mahto also inspected the crime scene and questioned the family members. Police stated that all aspects are being thoroughly investigated, and the actual cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report is received. Further action will be taken based on the report and investigation.
