Police in Bhagalpur's Madhusudanpur police station area have taken significant action against drug trafficking, arresting Shanti Devi, mother of Rampur Khurd Panchayat's Sarpanch Kashi Tanti. She was apprehended from her home in Mahamadpur Shitla Sthan with 1.20 kilograms of ganja. This operation was part of a special drive launched under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police to curb the illegal sale and purchase of narcotics in the district.

The Madhusudanpur police station had received confidential information about illegal drug dealings from a house in Mahamadpur Shitla Sthan. Following verification of the information, a police team raided the specified house. During the search, police recovered 1.20 kg of ganja and arrested Shanti Devi on the spot. Police confirmed that the arrested woman is the mother of Sarpanch Kashi Tanti of Rampur Khurd Panchayat, though the Sarpanch does not reside in that particular house.

Madhusudanpur Station House Officer Sanjay Kumar Mandal stated that investigations are underway to identify other individuals involved in this illegal ganja trade. The police are interrogating the arrested woman to gather information about the entire network. An FIR has been registered in the case, and Shanti Devi has been sent to judicial custody.
