Sasaram, Rohtas: Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm in Sasaram and its surrounding rural areas. After a day of fasting and bhajan-kirtan, as the clock struck 12:01 AM, the entire city resonated with powerful chants of 'Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki' and 'Nand Ke Anand Bhayo'. Devotees welcomed the birth of Bal-Gopal with the sound of conch shells, temple bells, and the beats of drums.

At the ancient and historic temple in the Shiv Ghat locality of the city, the atmosphere of Janmashtami was captivating. Devotees started arriving in the evening and continued to throng the temple until late at night. By midnight, thousands of worshippers had gathered in the Shiv Ghat temple complex. Temple priests performed the Panchamrit Abhishek of Lord Krishna's infant form with Vedic mantras, using milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Ganga water. Following this, the deity was adorned with new clothes, a peacock crown, and a flute, and placed on a swing. Long queues of men, women, and children formed to offer prayers and swing the deity. Young people and women danced joyfully to the loud beats of drums.

In addition to the Shiv Ghat temple, the city's main Hanuman Temple, Thakurbari, and puja pandals in local colonies were also decorated with colorful lights and flowers. In many places, children were dressed as Radha-Krishna, which became a special attraction for the public. After the Maha Aarti of Janmashtami, prasad consisting of coriander panjiri, makkhan-mishri, fruits, and pedas was distributed among thousands of devotees. Throughout the late-night celebrations, temple committee members and local police administration were vigilant to maintain security and order. On this special occasion of Janmashtami, the entire city of Sasaram remained immersed in devotion all night.
