In Chhathiyara village, Chewara block, Sheikhpura district, several Mahadalit families have reported an alleged attempt to illegally seize their ancestral land. On Friday, the aggrieved villagers reached the Collectorate and appealed to the District Magistrate (DM) to investigate the matter and ensure justice.

The victims, including Sudhir Ravidas, Punit Paswan, and Pankaj, stated that their ancestors had received land deeds from the government several years ago for agricultural purposes. They have been in possession of this land for a long time, cultivating it to support their families. The villagers allege that Ranjit Yadav, son of a former Mukhiya of the village, along with another individual, is attempting to grab their land using forged documents.

Despite their long-standing possession and cultivation of the land, the victims claim they are being continuously harassed. The villagers have urged the District Magistrate to conduct an impartial inquiry into the entire incident and take strict legal action against those attempting the illegal encroachment. There is significant anger among the villagers, who fear that the influential individuals might resort to untoward incidents to forcibly occupy their land.
