The District Magistrate (DM) of Sheikhpura recently conducted a surprise inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) warehouse located in the district. During the inspection, the DM issued several important directives concerning the security and maintenance of the EVMs. The DM thoroughly examined all EVMs and VVPAT machines stored in the warehouse, ensuring they were completely secure and free from any damage.

The DM reviewed both the external and internal security arrangements of the warehouse. He instructed security personnel to remain vigilant 24 hours a day and maintain strict surveillance to prevent unauthorized entry. Emphasizing that EVMs are the cornerstone of the country's democratic process, the DM stated that no negligence in their security would be tolerated. He also checked the functionality of CCTV cameras, ensuring they were operational and continuously recording.

Regarding maintenance, the DM directed officials to take appropriate measures to protect EVMs from dust, moisture, and pests. He stressed the importance of regular cleaning and functional checks of the machines to prevent technical issues in future elections. The DM further instructed that fire safety standards must be fully adhered to in the warehouse, with all necessary equipment available to handle emergencies.

The primary objective of this inspection was to ensure the readiness of EVMs for upcoming elections and to maintain their integrity. The DM made it clear that all concerned officials must strictly follow these instructions, and any lapses would lead to severe action. He also directed the District Election Officer to regularly inspect the warehouse and submit reports on the security arrangements.
