Sheikhpura police have achieved a significant breakthrough with the arrest of notorious liquor smuggler Sonu Kumar. Kumar had been on the run for the past month, evading authorities after 220 pouches of illicit liquor were seized from his hideout. He had managed to flee the scene during a police raid a month prior.

Acting on a tip-off and under the directive of the Superintendent of Police, a special operation was launched, leading to Kumar's apprehension. Sonu Kumar is a repeat offender with multiple cases of liquor smuggling registered against him, and he has previously served two jail terms. His arrest is expected to deal a major blow to the illicit liquor trade network operating in Sheikhpura district.

Police sources indicate that Kumar has been actively involved in the illegal liquor business in Sheikhpura and surrounding areas for an extended period. During the earlier raid, police recovered a substantial quantity of 220 pouches of country-made liquor. Despite the recovery, Kumar managed to escape, prompting a month-long manhunt. Interrogations are currently underway to uncover his accomplices and supply chains, aiming to further dismantle the illegal network and strengthen the enforcement of prohibition laws in the region. The police administration has affirmed its commitment to continue its crackdown on liquor smugglers.
