A police team in Sheohar district was attacked by villagers while attempting to arrest an accused in an honor killing case. During the incident, the Inspector of Sheohar Circle and a local constable were held hostage, and an accused who was already in police custody was freed. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Hathisar village, under the Purnahiya police station area.

According to the police, the murder of a minor girl from Hathisar village was determined to be an honor killing. Investigations revealed that the girl's brother, Manoj Kumar, angered by her love affair, conspired with accomplices to kill her and dispose of her body in a pond. Manoj Kumar was subsequently arrested.

On the night of Sunday and Monday, a police team arrived in Hathisar village to apprehend other suspects. Approximately 40-50 villagers then launched an attack on the police team with bricks, stones, and sticks. They damaged the constable's motorcycle and engaged in verbal abuse and physical assault against the officers. Several policemen sustained injuries in the attack.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a Quick Response Team (QRT) along with police from several stations and senior police officers rushed to the scene. The police cordoned off the village and successfully rescued the inspector and constable who were held hostage. Following this, the police took swift action and arrested seven individuals, identified as Ram Vinay Kumar, Deepu Kumar, Manish Kumar, Prem Shankar Sah, Ajay Patel, Shivji Sah, and Arun Kumar.

Purnahiya Station House Officer Premjit Singh has filed an FIR against 13 named individuals and 20-25 unknown persons. SP Shailendra Singh stated that six other accused in the attack on the police team are currently absconding, and raids are ongoing for their arrest. The investigation into the minor girl's murder is also underway, and all accused will be arrested soon and brought to justice through a speedy trial.
