A major theft incident has sent shockwaves through Sherghati, Gaya district, after two houses were targeted in a single night, with an estimated ₹50 lakh worth of property stolen. The incident occurred near the Shri Ram Janaki Temple in Golabazar, under the Sherghati police station area. The victimized families have filed a written complaint with the Sherghati Police, who have initiated an investigation.

According to reports, the thieves targeted the homes of businessman Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Gupta and his neighbor Pradeep Kumar, both residents of Golabazar. Ravi Kumar's family was away attending a wedding, leaving the house locked. The perpetrators exploited this opportunity, breaking the lock to gain entry. Once inside, they ransacked wardrobes and boxes, stealing cash, gold and silver jewelry, and other valuables. Ravi Kumar informed the police that approximately ₹30 lakh worth of property was stolen from his residence.

Similarly, his neighbor Pradeep Kumar's house was also burgled. Pradeep Kumar and his family were also away. Thieves broke into his house, making off with an estimated ₹20 lakh in jewelry and cash. Collectively, the two families claim a total loss of ₹50 lakh.

Upon receiving the report, Sherghati Police arrived at the scene to inspect the premises. Statements from the victims have been recorded, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas for clues. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) stated that a special team has been formed given the seriousness of the case and assured that the culprits would be apprehended and stolen property recovered soon. The incident has instilled fear among locals, who have demanded increased police patrols.
