A controversial order has been issued at the world-renowned Simultala Residential School in Jamui, relieving three teachers and directing them to join the same school during a 34-day official holiday period for Durga Puja and Chhath Mahaparv. This administrative decision, made amidst a long vacation, has sparked serious questions about the education department's functioning and its work ethic.

The Directorate of Secondary Education had officially approved this 34-day long holiday, adjusting for winter breaks. Educationists and teachers are now debating how teachers are expected to join duty when the school is completely closed.

According to departmental sources, the Regional Deputy Director of Education (RDD), Munger division, issued an order for the deputation of teachers at the divisional level, following a request from the Principal of Simultala Residential School. Subsequently, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Jamui issued an order to immediately relieve three teachers from the district.

Further controversy arose because the copy of the DEO's order did not include the name of the Principal of Simultala Residential School. This omission, failing to send a copy to the head of the institution where teachers are meant to join, is being seen as an administrative oversight. Educationists argue that since the school is closed for 34 days, the order should have been made effective from the date the school reopens. Additionally, relieving teachers abruptly mid-session could severely impact the studies of children in their original schools.

Jamui DEO Dhananjay Paswan dismissed the controversy as unnecessary. He clarified that the letter was issued based on the RDD's reference, and the list of teachers was also prepared by the RDD. He stated that teachers would operate according to the calendar of the institution they join. He also confirmed that the Principal of Simultala Residential School has been fully informed about the matter.
