The body of Shyam Sundar Kumar, a 35-year-old youth who had been missing for two days from the Parihar police station area in Sitamarhi district, was recovered on Saturday from the Marha-Hardi river, beneath the Bara Bridge. Shyam Sundar, son of Yogendra Rai and a resident of Mahadevpatti Math Tol, had been missing since the evening of August 6. His family suspects foul play, leading to widespread concern in the area.

According to his mother, Renu Devi, Shyam Sundar received a phone call on the evening of August 6, after which someone picked him up on a motorbike near the bridge. When he did not return home late that night, his family began searching for him, but his mobile phone was switched off, and he could not be traced at relatives' homes. On Saturday morning, the village head informed Renu Devi about a body found under the bridge near Bara village, which she identified as her son, Shyam Sundar.

Renu Devi expressed strong suspicions that her son was murdered. Upon receiving the information, Parihar police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it to Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Station House Officer Pankaj Kumar Yadav stated that the police are investigating the case from all angles and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Further action will be taken once an application is received from the family.
