A massive fire broke out unexpectedly in a house in Adarsh Nagar mohalla, under the Mahadeva police station area of Siwan district, on Thursday. Two siblings, 18-year-old Anjali Kumari and 10-year-old Priyanshu Kumar, were trapped inside and severely burned. Neighbors acted quickly, rescuing both through the roof of an adjacent house. Priyanshu, whose condition was more serious with severe burns to both hands, was immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital.

The inferno consumed a motorcycle, a scooter, and a bicycle parked inside the house. The presence of petrol in the vehicles led to loud explosions after they caught fire, drawing residents from the vicinity. Local residents informed the Mahadeva police station and the fire department. Due to the narrow lanes of the mohalla, it took time for a small fire engine to reach the spot. However, before the fire brigade arrived, locals had largely controlled the blaze using water from household motors and sand.

Mahadeva Police Station In-charge Vineet Vinayak, along with police forces, reached the scene. He confirmed that the fire was extinguished with the help of local residents. The fire department team also arrived and confirmed the complete extinguishing of the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit as the cause of the fire. Further details regarding the damage and exact cause will emerge after receiving an application from the affected family.
