During the Khurda Mahotsav in Kumarhkand block, Madhepura, a slipper was thrown at Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav. The incident occurred while Yadav was entertaining the audience with his songs from the stage. Instead of showing anger, the actor handled the situation humorously. Addressing the person who threw the slipper, he said, "Very good, son... Is it a Bata slipper? It was very lovely. I love you. You will go far in life." Independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, was also present on stage.

Khesari Lal Yadav reacted to the incident by stating that he respects such people because mistakes help in understanding the difference between right and wrong. He jokingly added, "The more mistakes you make, the more the world will learn from your mistakes." He then continued with his performance.

MP Pappu Yadav expressed his displeasure over the incident, stating that the person who threw the slipper has been identified through CCTV footage and will be found within two days. However, Khesari Lal Yadav did not escalate the matter. During the festival, some youths climbed electric poles to get a better view of Yadav. Pappu Yadav repeatedly asked them to come down and warned them. When some youths did not descend, the MP became angry and sternly ordered them to get off the poles, after which they complied. This incident and the MP's annoyance over the youths climbing poles became a talking point at the festival.
