The Sonpur Railway Division recently conducted a large-scale ticket checking drive, achieving significant success in revenue recovery. The division collected a total of ₹30.26 lakh during this special campaign. This information was shared by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) of Sonpur Division. He stated that during this mega drive, a total of 3,091 passengers were caught traveling without tickets or in an irregular manner.

According to the Sr. DCM, this special ticket checking drive was simultaneously carried out across various important stations and trains within the division. The primary objective was to enforce discipline in railway travel and curb the menace of ticketless travelers. Traveling without a valid ticket is a punishable offense and results in substantial revenue loss for the railways.

Ticket checking staff, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Government Railway Police (GRP) officials actively participated in this campaign. The teams jointly conducted intensive checks inside trains and on platforms. Irregular passengers caught included those traveling without tickets, carrying luggage without proper passes or licenses, and unauthorized travelers. Fines were collected from all these passengers as per regulations.

The railway administration has clarified that such campaigns will continue in the future to encourage passengers to travel with tickets. This initiative not only helps in increasing railway revenue but also ensures passenger safety and comfortable travel. Sonpur Division's move sets an example for other divisions on how effective campaigns can boost revenue collection and curb irregular travel.
