साइबर अपराधों में लगातार हो रही वृद्धि को देखते हुए, पुलिस अधीक्षक (एसपी) ने आम जनता से फर्जी लिंक्स पर क्लिक न करने और किसी के साथ भी अपने वन टाइम पासवर्ड (OTP) साझा न करने की अपील की है। एसपी ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि साइबर अपराधी विभिन्न तरीकों से लोगों को ठगने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं, और जागरूकता ही इस खतरे से बचने का सबसे प्रभावी तरीका है।
एसपी ने बताया कि इन दिनों फर्जी एसएमएस, ईमेल और व्हाट्सएप संदेशों के माध्यम से लोगों को लुभाया जा रहा है। ये संदेश अक्सर आकर्षक ऑफर, लॉटरी जीतने या सरकारी योजनाओं का लाभ उठाने का झांसा देते हैं। जैसे ही कोई व्यक्ति इन फर्जी लिंक्स पर क्लिक करता है, उसकी व्यक्तिगत जानकारी या बैंक खाते का विवरण चुराया जा सकता है। इसके बाद अपराधी OTP मांगकर खाते से पैसे निकाल लेते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि बैंक या कोई भी विश्वसनीय संस्था कभी भी फोन पर आपसे आपका OTP, पिन या खाता संख्या नहीं मांगती है। यदि आपको ऐसा कोई कॉल या संदेश आता है, तो उसे तुरंत ब्लॉक कर दें और किसी भी जानकारी का खुलासा न करें। एसपी ने यह भी सलाह दी कि अपने स्मार्टफोन और कंप्यूटर में एंटी-वायरस सॉफ्टवेयर का उपयोग करें और उन्हें नियमित रूप से अपडेट करते रहें। मजबूत पासवर्ड का इस्तेमाल करें और उन्हें समय-समय पर बदलते रहें।
पुलिस अधीक्षक ने सभी नागरिकों से सतर्क रहने और साइबर अपराधों के बारे में जानकारी होने पर तत्काल स्थानीय पुलिस या साइबर क्राइम हेल्पलाइन पर सूचित करने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पुलिस साइबर अपराधियों के खिलाफ लगातार कार्रवाई कर रही है, लेकिन जनता की जागरूकता और सहयोग इस लड़ाई में महत्वपूर्ण है। उन्होंने विशेष रूप से युवाओं और बुजुर्गों को इन खतरों के प्रति अधिक सावधान रहने की सलाह दी, क्योंकि वे अक्सर इन जालसाजों का आसान शिकार बन जाते हैं।

Clicking on these fraudulent links can lead to the compromise of personal information and bank account details. Criminals then often request OTPs to unauthorizedly withdraw funds. The SP clarified that no legitimate bank or financial institution will ever ask for an OTP, PIN, or account number over the phone. Citizens are advised to immediately block such callers or messages and never disclose any personal information. Furthermore, the SP recommended the use of updated antivirus software on all devices, strong, regularly changed passwords, and prompt reporting of any suspicious activity to the local police or cybercrime helpline. Public awareness and cooperation are crucial in combating these digital threats.
