A grand wrestling competition was organized in Sripur Bhatwalia Sapaheria, located in Sugauli block of East Champaran, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Station House Officer Anish Singh inaugurated the annual event. Under the guidance of district coach Chunnu Chaubey and leadership of president Shobha Paswan, renowned wrestlers from various districts of Bihar, as well as Delhi, Maharashtra, and neighboring Nepal, showcased their strength in the arena.

The competition saw participation from famous wrestlers such as Jogindra Pahalwan, Kala Pahalwan, Amar Yadav Mirzapur from Nepal, Ramraj Yadav of Sahodra, Satan Pahalwan, Premendra, Rahul, and Pusar from Delhi, Amarjeet from Maharashtra, and Jaimangal Yadav from Nepal. The wrestlers displayed various thrilling wrestling moves and techniques to defeat each other, generating immense enthusiasm among the spectators, and the entire venue resonated with applause.

This wrestling competition has been continuously organized in Sripur Bhatwalia since 1961, forming a part of the region's old and rich tradition. Alongside the wrestling, a fair was also organized, featuring shops selling sweets, toys, and household goods. Children, youth, women, and the elderly thoroughly enjoyed both the wrestling matches and the fair. People continued to enjoy the fair until late Friday evening. Thousands of spectators from far-flung areas also arrived to witness the wrestling, leading to a huge crowd at the venue. Under the leadership of SHO Anish Kumar Singh, the police administration had made robust security arrangements, ensuring the event concluded peacefully and in an organized manner.
