A crucial bridge under construction in Supaul district, costing Rs 3.32 crore, remains incomplete, causing immense hardship for thousands of villagers and schoolchildren. With the onset of the monsoon, the temporary diversion built alongside the bridge has washed away in the very first rain, severing connectivity for several villages across three panchayats from the main road. This incident highlights significant negligence and slow progress in development projects.

According to reports, the bridge is being constructed over the Dengrahi Dhār in Ward No.-12 of Pipra Khurd Panchayat, on the Kataiya-Nirmali main road within Pipra block of Supaul district. The construction work has been ongoing for the past two years but is yet to be completed. Due to the negligence of the construction agency and the indifference of departmental officials, villagers face similar problems every monsoon season. The incomplete bridge severely hinders local movement, especially for emergency services like ambulances.

With the diversion washed away, dozens of villages in panchayats like Pipra Khurd, Pathra Uttar, and Maheshpur have lost direct access to Pipra market. This not only affects daily commuting but also poses significant challenges for schoolchildren. They are forced to either take long detours of several kilometers or risk crossing the waterlogged stream. Local villagers stated that they have repeatedly complained about the construction delays and the poor quality of the diversion, but no action has been taken.

Local representatives and villagers have urged the administration to expedite the bridge's construction and arrange alternative routes to alleviate the public's suffering. They have warned of protests if the issue is not resolved promptly.
