The Chhatapur block headquarters market in Supaul district is facing a severe wave of burglaries, creating an atmosphere of fear among local business owners. On Monday night, audacious thieves carried out two major robberies at different locations. Cash, jewelry, and other goods worth approximately one lakh rupees were stolen from two shops and one house.

The first incident occurred at Bullu Pan Shop cum General Store located at Block Chowk. Thieves broke the door latch, entered the shop, and made off with around 51,000 rupees in cash, along with goods worth thousands. Upon receiving information, SHO Pramod Jha arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning and gathered details from the shop owner, Jaynarayan alias Bullu Sah. A wrench and a finger ring were recovered from the site. The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera near the shop, and based on the footage, the thief has been identified and a named application has been filed at the police station.

The second robbery took place in Ward No. 13, just a few steps from the police station premises. Here, thieves targeted Pradeep Sah's grocery store cum residential house. In this incident, cash and jewelry worth about 50,000 rupees were reported stolen. The victim, Pradeep Sah, stated that unknown thieves broke a window to enter his house, then broke open an almirah, stealing about 25 Bhar of silver jewelry and new clothes. Subsequently, they entered the adjoining grocery store and took cash and goods worth thousands. Pradeep Sah filed a complaint on Tuesday morning, but as of Tuesday evening, the police had not yet arrived at the scene for investigation.

SHO Pramod Jha confirmed that the robbery at Block Chowk has been investigated, and the police are also aware of the second incident. He assured that efforts are underway to solve the cases and recover the stolen items, adding that the gang of thieves would be exposed soon.
