Amidst rumors circulating in Supaul district regarding the Kosi River's water level, the district administration has urged residents to remain vigilant and disregard such unverified information. Supaul District Magistrate Savan Kumar appealed to the public, stating that the Kosi River's water level is currently below 1.5 lakh cusecs. He clarified that the situation is normal, and there is no need for panic.

The District Magistrate emphasized that the district administration is continuously monitoring the Kosi River's water level and the condition of embankments. Concerned officials and engineers have been instructed to keep a close watch on the situation. He requested people not to believe any unconfirmed news or rumors, advising them to rely solely on official information released by the district administration.

According to data released from the Kosi Barrage on Thursday, August 27, at 10 AM, the downstream discharge was recorded at 1,38,360 cusecs. The discharge in the Eastern Kosi Main Canal (EKMC) was zero, while 4,000 cusecs of water were released into the Western Kosi Main Canal (WKMC). Thus, the total discharge was recorded at 1,42,360 cusecs, indicating a decreasing trend. Conversely, the upstream/backwater level data from the barrage at 10 AM on August 27 was recorded at 96,125 cusecs, showing an increasing trend. The administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and refrain from forwarding any unverified messages or information.
