A 32-year-old grocery shop owner, Naveen Mehta, died in a tragic road accident on Sunday afternoon in Supaul district's Karjain police station area. The incident occurred around 2 PM near a petrol pump at Baisi Chowk on NH-106 when a speeding Kwid car collided with Naveen's motorcycle.

Critically injured in the accident, Naveen was rushed to a referral hospital by local residents in a tempo, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Naveen Mehta, a resident of Ward No. 12, Uttar Tola, Karjain Panchayat, supported his family by running a grocery store from home. On Sunday, he was on his way from Baisi Chowk to Karjain Bazaar when a car coming from Veerpur collided with his bike. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was so severe that Naveen was thrown onto the road, sustaining fatal injuries.

Naveen had married Vibha Kumari on June 4, 2025, and his wife is currently six months pregnant. The untimely death of her husband just a year after their marriage has left his wife and family inconsolable. Naveen was the sole breadwinner, managing the family responsibilities and his grocery shop, and his demise has plunged the family into financial crisis.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Karjain SHO Manish Kumar and his team arrived at the scene. Police have seized the damaged bike and car and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Authorities are investigating the matter and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
