The body of a teenager who drowned in the Sursar River in Supaul district has been recovered approximately 24 hours after the incident. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team had been relentlessly searching for the boy who drowned while bathing in the river on Sunday evening. On Monday, after continuous efforts, the NDRF team successfully retrieved the body from about 500 meters downstream.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the teenager went for a bath in the river and was swept away by the current or ventured into deep waters. Upon receiving information about the drowning, local administration and SDRF teams promptly arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation. However, the search had to be halted due to darkness.

On Monday morning, a specialized NDRF team resumed the search operation. Utilizing modern equipment and trained divers, the team scoured various parts of the river. After nearly 24 hours of arduous effort, the teenager's body was found approximately 500 meters from the site of the incident. The recovery of the body brought immense grief to the family.

Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. This tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire area. Local residents have urged the administration to enhance safety measures near rivers and other water bodies to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
