A 17-year-old boy drowned in the Gandak River on Sunday evening while bathing at the Imaliya Tola Ghat, located in the Chatiya Barharwa Panchayat under the Malahi police station area of Govindganj. According to reports, Golu Kumar, son of Manshi Mukhia, a resident of Ramsiriya village, was bathing in the Gandak River along with four of his friends. During this time, Golu went into deep water and drowned, while his four companions managed to get out safely.

Upon receiving the news of the teenager's drowning, family members and villagers rushed to the ghat and immediately began searching for him. However, after hours of searching, Golu could not be found. Upon being informed of the incident, Areraj CO Vinod Kumar Pandey, Malahi Station House Officer Suman Bharti, and the local Panchayat head Chandasi Yadav also arrived at the scene. A crowd of villagers also gathered at the site. The CO stated that the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) team has been informed about the incident and further action is being taken.
