Valmikinagar, often dubbed the 'Kashmir of Bihar' for its scenic beauty, has emerged as a prime destination for picnics and sightseeing. Since the new tourism season commenced on October 17, the number of visitors has been steadily increasing. On Sunday, Valmikinagar witnessed a significant influx of tourists, who started arriving from Saturday evening, eager to enjoy forest excursions and cook their preferred meals. Visitors primarily hailed from Uttar Pradesh, including Kushinagar, Hata, Kaptainganj, and Marwa.

Tourists began arriving at various designated picnic spots within the forest area on Sunday morning, commencing the preparation of delicious meals. Naveen Chandra Mishra from Kushinagar mentioned that his family chose Valmikinagar to enjoy non-vegetarian food before they begin abstaining from it from November 1. Saturdays and Sundays are particularly popular for tourism at Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), with many visitors opting for jungle safaris and picnics. The weekend also sees a higher number of students. Tourists enjoy the natural beauty in the outer areas of VTR and return by evening.

Since the start of the tourism season, over 500 tourists have enjoyed jungle safaris within a week. While there has been a delay in launching rafting services this year, the department has initiated the process to make it available. DFO Vikas Kumar Ahlawat stated that they are waiting for the Gandak River's water level to recede further and for the water to clear up. Once the river water is clean, rafting services will be launched, offering an additional thrilling experience to visitors.
