Panic gripped the Laxmipur locality under Nautan police station in West Champaran district on Tuesday when a venomous cobra snake was found trapped in a mouse cage at Chhabila Chaurasia's house. The family had set the cage to catch mice due to an infestation, but to their horror, they discovered a large cobra hissing inside the trap.

The unexpected incident caused widespread fear among the family and local residents. News of the trapped snake quickly spread to nearby villages, drawing a large crowd of curious villagers to the spot. Residents described the cobra as quite long and clearly venomous. Due to the palpable fear, no one attempted to remove or capture the snake from the cage.

Villagers have urged everyone to maintain a safe distance from the snake to prevent any untoward incidents. The local administration and forest department have been informed about the situation. Locals have appealed to the forest department team to arrive swiftly, safely extract the cobra from the cage, and release it into the jungle or a secure location. The delay in the team's arrival has heightened the villagers' anxiety.
