A woman and her relative were arrested in Samastipur for smuggling a consignment of liquor from Delhi in a First AC coach. The woman was traveling to Darbhanga on the Swatantrata Senani Express when she was apprehended during a check at Samastipur station on Friday evening. The arrested woman has been identified as 25-year-old Neha Kumari, daughter of Sanjay Kumar Jha, a resident of Bari village, Ward-12, under Singhia Ghat Police Station. The accompanying man, Ishan Kumar, from Karnal, Haryana, is Neha's brother-in-law's brother.

GRP Station House Officer cum Inspector Veerbal Kumar stated that based on confidential information, an RPF team raided the H-1 coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express at Samastipur station. When the police team reached the coupe, the door was locked from the inside. After repeated knocking, the door opened, and the woman argued with the police, attempting to intimidate them by speaking in English.

Subsequently, the police conducted a search with videography, recovering 100 bottles of foreign liquor from various companies hidden in eight bags and briefcases. Following the discovery, both individuals were deboarded from the train and taken to the RPF post. After preparing the seizure memo, they were handed over to the GRP for further action.

According to police records, Neha's father, Sanjay Kumar Jha, has also been previously jailed in liquor trafficking cases. Neha's mother is an Anganwadi worker, while Ishan Kumar holds a B.Tech degree. Police stated that both were transporting liquor from Delhi to Darbhanga, where Neha resided in a rented house and had previously engaged in liquor smuggling. She reportedly traveled in First AC to avoid suspicion. A First Information Report has been registered, and both have been sent to judicial custody.
