A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Govindganj police station area of East Champaran district. A woman, who had gone out for a walk, died on the spot after coming into contact with a fallen live electrical wire. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Godavari Devi, wife of Shatrughan Singh, a resident of Jhakhra village.

Godavari Devi had left her home for a morning walk when she accidentally touched a bare wire that had fallen near an electricity pole, resulting in her immediate death. The incident caused an uproar and a chaotic atmosphere in the village.

Villagers have strongly accused the electricity department of serious negligence. They stated that the power department had been informed earlier about the fallen wire from the pole, but no timely action was taken to repair it. This negligence has led to widespread anger among the residents.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Govindganj police immediately arrived at the scene. The police took possession of the body and sent it to Motihari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Station House Officer Sachchidanand Pandey stated that further legal action would be taken upon receiving a written application from the family members.
