A youth was injured in a firing incident during a Vishwakarma Puja immersion procession in the Sarairanjan police station area of Samastipur. The injured youth has been identified as Ayush Kumar Jha, a resident of Jhakhra Paschim Tola. Ayush stated that he was returning home after distributing invitation cards when an argument erupted with Manjaylal Yadav and his associates over moving a vehicle during the immersion procession.

According to Ayush, the accused assaulted him and snatched his mobile phone. Later, as Ayush and his companions were returning after filing a complaint at the police station, they were attacked by 20-30 miscreants in the fields near KSR College. The attackers used bricks, stones, and glass bottles, and during the ensuing rapid firing, a bullet struck Ayush's toe, severely injuring him.

Upon receiving information from villagers, a police team arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The injured youth was immediately admitted to Samastipur Sadar Hospital for treatment. Sarairanjan SHO Dhananjay Kumar stated that an FIR has been registered against named and unknown accused based on the victim's complaint. The police are continuously raiding various locations to apprehend the culprits. Late Saturday night, the Sadar DSP also visited the crime scene and assured the family of an impartial investigation and strict action. Tensions remain high between the two groups in the area following the incident.
