A youth was seriously injured after being shot in Manikpur, Narpatganj block, Araria district, on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 4 AM when 34-year-old Munna Yadav was returning home to Laxmipur, Ward No.-14, Achra Panchayat, after attending a cultural program. He sustained a gunshot wound to his forehead.

The incident took place near Dr. Rajendra Yadav's gate, Ward No.-10, on the Sainik Road in Manikpur, approximately one kilometer from the international border, within the Fullkaha police station area. Upon receiving information, Fullkaha Station House Officer Vikas Kumar Maurya, along with police personnel, reached the spot. The injured Munna Yadav was immediately taken to Sub-Divisional Health Center Forbesganj. After preliminary treatment, given his critical condition, he was referred to Max-7 Hospital in Purnia, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Police sources suggest that the incident might be a result of a dispute between two friends, though the police have not officially confirmed the actual cause. The police are thoroughly investigating the entire matter. The crime scene has been barricaded and secured, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is awaited. A live cartridge and a spent shell casing were reportedly recovered from the scene.

Family members stated that they received a call around 4 AM informing them about Munna Yadav being shot. By the time they reached the spot, the police had already taken the injured to the hospital. Relatives believe that full details of the incident will only emerge once Munna regains consciousness. Meanwhile, a police team led by Raniganj Police Inspector Satish Kumar is conducting raids at suspected locations. The police are actively working to identify the shooter and ascertain the motive behind the incident. A clearer picture is expected to emerge after the investigation and FSL report.
