Kishanganj: In a significant joint operation against drug trafficking along the Indo-Nepal border, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and local police have arrested three Nepali nationals and recovered 47.3 grams of suspected brown sugar. The operation was carried out in the Dighalbank police station area.

Personnel from BOP Baluwabari 'A' Company, Mohmari, of the 12th Battalion of SSB, received intelligence about suspicious activities in the border region. Acting on this tip-off, a joint team comprising SSB and Dighalbank police launched an intensive surveillance and search operation in the area. During the operation, three suspicious individuals were intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of 47.3 grams of suspected brown sugar from their possession. The seized substance is being sent for further forensic examination.

Initial interrogation revealed that all three arrested individuals are residents of Nepal. Preliminary investigations suggest that the illicit substance was being smuggled across the Indo-Nepal border. Police and other security agencies are now working to determine if the arrested individuals are part of a larger drug trafficking network. Investigations are also underway to ascertain the origin of the consignment and its intended destination.

SSB officials stated that continuous vigilance is being maintained along the Indo-Nepal border to curb drug trafficking. Special attention is being paid to suspicious activities, and joint operations with the police are regularly conducted. After completing legal formalities, the three arrested accused were handed over to the Dighalbank police station. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation to gather information about the source of the smuggling and other individuals involved in the network.
