Despite the prohibition on alcohol in Bihar, a truck laden with liquor met with an accident in Raniganj, Araria district, on Gandhi Jayanti. The incident occurred near the Kharhat Toll Plaza on NH-327 E, along the Raniganj-Araria road. Immediately after the accident, a large number of villagers, including women, gathered at the scene and began looting bottles of liquor from the truck. A video of the incident has also surfaced.

According to reports, the six-wheeler truck, bearing registration number AS 25 EC 0644, was carrying a large quantity of various brands of liquor. Near the Kharhat Toll Plaza, the truck lost control and collided with a signboard on the roadside. The driver was injured in the accident, losing control of the vehicle. After traveling some distance, the truck came to a halt by the roadside, following which the driver and co-driver fled the scene.

As soon as the truck stopped, nearby villagers converged on the spot, and the looting of liquor began. Within moments, a large number of people were seen carrying away bottles of alcohol. It is reported that a significant amount of liquor was looted by the villagers. Several people recorded videos of the incident, which have now come to the attention of the police.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Raniganj police station personnel arrived at the scene, seized the damaged truck, and initiated an investigation. The police are gathering information about the quantity and brands of liquor in the truck, and a search is underway for the absconding driver and co-driver. Araria SDPO Sushil Kumar stated that the police have received videos related to the looting of liquor from the truck. The matter is under investigation, and the owner of the truck is being traced. He added that the role of the truck owner would also be investigated, and necessary action would be taken.
