अररिया के बथनाहा स्थित 56वीं वाहिनी सशस्त्र सीमा बल (एसएसबी) परिसर में बुधवार को पुलिस स्मृति दिवस मनाया गया। इस अवसर पर द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी प्रवीण कुमार के नेतृत्व में अधिकारियों और बलकर्मियों ने अपने कर्तव्य का निर्वहन करते हुए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देने वाले वीर पुलिसकर्मियों और केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों के जवानों को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। सभी ने दो मिनट का मौन रखकर शहीद जवानों को नमन किया।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान पुलिस स्मृति दिवस के ऐतिहासिक महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला गया। बताया गया कि 21 अक्टूबर 1959 को लद्दाख के हॉट स्प्रिंग्स क्षेत्र में चीनी सैनिकों के हमले का बहादुरी से सामना करते हुए केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के 10 जवानों ने अपनी जान न्योछावर कर दी थी। उन्हीं वीर जवानों की स्मृति में प्रत्येक वर्ष 21 अक्टूबर को यह दिवस मनाया जाता है।
इस दौरान 1 सितंबर 2025 से 31 अगस्त 2026 के बीच कर्तव्य निर्वहन के दौरान शहीद हुए अथवा अप्राकृतिक मृत्यु को प्राप्त पुलिस और केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों के जवानों को भी श्रद्धांजलि दी गई। सशस्त्र सीमा बल के पांच वीर जवानों – सहायक उप निरीक्षक समरेश दास, मुख्य आरक्षी बिनोय प्रदीप केरकेट्टा तथा आरक्षी दिनेश कुमार मंडल, मानिक रॉय और मुकेश कुमार गुर्जर – के नामों का विशेष रूप से स्मरण किया गया। द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी प्रवीण कुमार ने वीर जवानों के अदम्य साहस, वीरता और कर्तव्यनिष्ठा को याद करते हुए उनके सर्वोच्च बलिदान को नमन किया। उन्होंने कहा कि देश की सुरक्षा और अखंडता बनाए रखना सभी सुरक्षा बलों का सर्वोच्च कर्तव्य है।
Police Commemoration Day was observed on Wednesday at the 56th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) campus in Bathnaha, Araria. Led by Second-in-Command Praveen Kumar, officers and personnel paid heartfelt tributes to brave police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. A two-minute silence was observed to honor the fallen heroes.
During the event, the historical significance of Police Commemoration Day was highlighted. It was recalled that on October 21, 1959, ten brave CRPF personnel laid down their lives defending the motherland against Chinese aggression in the Hot Springs area of Ladakh. This day is observed annually on October 21 in their memory.
Tributes were also paid to police and CAPF personnel who were martyred or met an unnatural death between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026. The names of five brave SSB personnel – Assistant Sub-Inspector Samaresh Das, Head Constable Binoy Pradip Kerketta, and Constables Dinesh Kumar Mandal, Manik Roy, and Mukesh Kumar Gurjar – were specifically remembered. Second-in-Command Praveen Kumar saluted the supreme sacrifice, indomitable courage, valor, and devotion to duty of these brave soldiers, emphasizing that maintaining the country's security and integrity is the paramount duty of all security forces.
