Two teenagers drowned while bathing in the Son River near Laxmanpur Bathe village, under the Parasi police station area in Arwal district, on Sunday. A third teenager managed to swim to safety and alerted villagers about the incident. With the help of villagers and local divers, the bodies of Hariom Kumar, 15, son of Mrityunjay Ram, and Chandan Kumar, 14, son of Mukesh Ram, were recovered.

The three teenagers had gone to bathe in the Son River when they began to drown due to deep water and strong currents. One of them managed to save himself, while Hariom and Chandan were swept away. Jawahar Chaudhary, who was fishing nearby, attempted to rescue them with a net but was unsuccessful.

Upon receiving the information, Parasi Station House Officer Mohammad Siraj Alam arrived at the scene with a police team. With the assistance of local divers and villagers, both bodies were retrieved from the river in the presence of the police. The recovery of the bodies plunged both families into mourning, and their relatives were inconsolably grief-stricken. The entire Laxmanpur Bathe village is in a state of sorrow. According to villagers, illegal sand mining has created deep pits in the Son River, and the water flow is also very strong, which contributed to this tragic incident.
