Police in Madhubani district's Babubarhi police station area have arrested a liquor smuggler who had been absconding for two months. The accused was sent to judicial custody on Sunday. Babubarhi Station House Officer (SHO) Rahul Kumar stated that approximately two months ago, a large quantity of illegal liquor was seized from a motorcycle between Mohanpur and Sonpatahi. At that time, taking advantage of the darkness and seeing the police, the smuggler managed to escape, abandoning the bike and the liquor.

The police immediately prepared an inventory of the seized liquor and launched an investigation. After thorough investigation, the absconding accused was identified as Virendra Shah, a resident of Jhanjhpatti village under Khutauna police station. Police had been continuously searching for him and finally succeeded in apprehending him. SHO Rahul Kumar issued a clear warning that the police campaign against illegal liquor traders in the area would continue relentlessly. He emphasized that no individual violating the law would be spared. This arrest is part of the police's ongoing drive against illegal liquor.
