An anti-encroachment team comprising police and administrative officials faced an attack while attempting to remove illegal structures on government land in Jathi village, Babubarhi block, Madhubani district. Due to strong opposition and an uproar, the team had to retreat without clearing the encroachment. Following the incident, Circle Officer (CO) Sukant Rahul filed an FIR on Friday against the accused at the Babubarhi police station.

According to the application submitted by the CO to the police, a public pathway in Jathi village was cleared of encroachment in 2024 following a High Court order. However, a recent investigation initiated by a complaint on the 'Sahyog Portal' revealed that the accused, Dhuran Chaudhary, had re-encroached the same public path by constructing a hut.

On Thursday, the Circle Officer, Revenue Officer, and Sub-Inspector Dhananjay Singh of Babubarhi police station arrived at the spot with their team to remove the encroachment. It is alleged that Dhuran Chaudhary, along with his son Uday Chaudhary, wife Shiv Kumari Devi, and daughter, forcibly resisted the government action. During the confrontation, Uday Chaudhary reportedly attempted to pelt stones at the police and administrative team. Additional Station House Officer Amrita Singh confirmed that a case was registered on Friday based on the CO's written complaint, and further police action is underway.
