Patients at Bachhwara Community Health Center (CHC) in Begusarai district are facing significant difficulties due to a non-functional X-ray machine for the past week. In cases of fractures, road accidents, assaults, and other serious injuries, the inability to conduct X-ray examinations is forcing patients to either return without diagnosis or travel to other towns like Begusarai Sadar Hospital or Dalsinghsarai in the neighboring district.

Hundreds of patients from remote villages in the block visit the CHC daily for treatment. Despite doctors advising X-rays, the faulty machine prevents examinations. The X-ray room remains locked, and operators are turning patients away, citing machine malfunction.

This situation disproportionately affects poor and economically vulnerable patients who, unable to travel, are compelled to undergo expensive tests at local private diagnostic centers. This has inflated treatment costs manifold, pushing many families into financial distress.

Patients such as Rajkumar Chaudhary, Harinandan Yadav, and Binod Kumar, along with local intellectuals and social workers, have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the health department's operations. They highlighted that despite the machine being out of order for a week, no technical team has arrived for repairs, indicating serious negligence. They have demanded immediate repair of the X-ray machine.

Begusarai Civil Surgeon Dr. Ashok Kumar stated that he was unaware of the X-ray machine's malfunction. He assured that, in the interest of patients, the machine would be repaired as soon as possible, and X-ray services would be restored.
