Amidst fluctuating water levels of the Ganga, Kosi, Barandi, and Kari Kosi rivers, several areas in Katihar district are experiencing flood-like conditions. Villages in Amdabad, Manihari, Barari, and Kursela blocks are particularly affected, leading to the closure of many schools and disruption of education.

In response to this challenge, Utkramit Uchch Madhyamik Vidyalaya Baria in Amdabad block has launched online classes for students from 9th to 12th grade to ensure their studies continue. Many students, unable to attend school due to the floods, are now connecting to classes from their homes via mobile phones. Teachers decided to initiate online classes as soon as internet services were restored. Videos of the lessons taught in online classes are also being sent to students via WhatsApp, significantly aiding their exam preparations. Students like Ayush Kumar, Abhay Kumar, and Sakshi Kumari have expressed their happiness, and parents Sarita Kumari and Mukesh Kumar have praised the school's initiative, emphasizing the importance of continued education with exams approaching.

School principal Pankaj Kumar stated that children are confined to their homes due to floods, making it difficult to reach school. Amdabad Block Education Officer and Block Development Officer Ranbir Kumar also commended Baria School's effort. He informed that out of 119 schools in Amdabad block, approximately 95 have been affected by the floods, disrupting the education of nearly 25,000 children. Ranbir Kumar has appealed to other principals to follow Baria School's example and start online classes to ensure uninterrupted education for children during the flood season.
