Gautam Kumar (22), son of a court clerk, was critically injured after being shot by criminals in Begusarai. He sustained two bullet wounds, one in his arm and another in his lower abdomen. The incident occurred in Chhapki village, under the Muffasil police station jurisdiction.

According to Gautam's father, Shankar Yadav, he saw four youths on two motorcycles speeding away shortly after the incident. Upon returning home, his daughter informed him that Gautam had been shot. Shankar Yadav alleged that the criminals were lying in wait and fired at his son as soon as the power went out. The shooting took place approximately 100 meters from their home.

Hearing the gunshots, villagers rushed to the scene and found Gautam bleeding profusely. With the help of locals, he was immediately admitted to a private hospital in the city, where his condition remains critical. The assailants fled northwards towards Karichak via Bihari.

Shankar Yadav stated that his son had no personal animosity with anyone. He claimed that some youths from Karichak frequently come to their village, drink alcohol, and engage in mischievous activities. About a year ago, Gautam had intervened when three youths from Karichak were drinking near a transformer in the village, which led to an argument. He also mentioned that these youths often sit on the culvert and behave indecently with women from the village.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Sadar-One DSP Anand Kumar Pandey and Muffasil Station House Officer Manoj Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team. Police officials inspected the crime spot, questioned local residents, and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the village to identify the culprits. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
