Patna: Bihar Advocate General S.D. Sanjay has announced a significant stipend scheme for new lawyers in the state. He stated that all new advocates registered with the Bihar State Bar Council after January 1, 2024, will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for three consecutive years. The deadline for applications under this scheme is November 30, 2026.

Advocate General S.D. Sanjay clarified that the government is fully committed to this new scheme, acknowledging that minor issues might arise in the initial stages. He also mentioned that the government has announced several welfare schemes, including a ₹5 lakh aid to advocate associations for establishing e-libraries. For this purpose, ₹30 crore has already been disbursed to the Bihar Advocate Welfare Trust Committee.

Special initiatives are also being undertaken for women lawyers, focusing on improving toilet facilities in courts and chamber arrangements. To avail the stipend scheme, interested lawyers must purchase an application form for ₹100.

The list of required documents includes matriculation certificate, advocate registration certificate, experience and active practice certificate, parents' income certificate, Bihar domicile certificate, PAN card, AIBE exam pass certificate, and an affidavit confirming no involvement in criminal cases. Additionally, lawyers must submit an affidavit stating they are not engaged in any other profession besides law, along with a cancelled cheque. The application must also bear the signatures of the association's president and general secretary.
