Patna: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has canceled the main written examination for the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors (Advertisement No. 05/2025). The commission announced on Wednesday that the exam, held in two shifts on May 27, 2026, has been annulled due to unavoidable reasons. A new date for the examination will be announced separately.

The primary reason for the cancellation is alleged irregularities, which are currently being investigated by the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU). The investigation has brought to light serious concerns, including suspected power cuts and jammer malfunctions at examination centers. The EOU has received power supply reports from Gaya and Purnia for May 27, which indicate normal electricity supply in both cities on that day. However, reports of power outages at exam centers have deepened the investigating agency's suspicion.

The EOU suspects that jammers at some centers might have stopped working during the power cuts, and question paper images might have been transmitted outside the centers during those periods. There is also a possibility that answers were procured from outside after the images were sent. To investigate these possibilities, the EOU has begun collecting power supply records, CCTV footage, and jammer logs.

Furthermore, an image of a question paper that surfaced during the investigation has raised several questions. The image clearly shows a ring on the finger of the person who photographed the question paper. Despite metal detectors and strict security arrangements at exam centers, the presence of devices like mobile phones or cameras near exam materials has become a critical point of inquiry. The EOU is now working to determine how the question paper image was leaked from the examination center despite stringent security measures.
