मधेपुरा जिले के बिहारीगंज प्रखंड मुख्यालय स्थित बिहारीगंज-उदाकिशुनगंज मुख्य मार्ग पर नया बाजार के महावीर धर्मकांटा के समीप पिछले लगभग दो महीने से जलजमाव की गंभीर समस्या बनी हुई है। जल निकासी की उचित व्यवस्था न होने के कारण स्थानीय निवासियों, स्कूली बच्चों और राहगीरों को प्रतिदिन भारी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।
स्थानीय लोगों ने अपने स्तर पर गड्ढों में मिट्टी और बालू डालकर भरने का प्रयास किया था, लेकिन बारिश के बाद स्थिति जस की तस हो गई। बाद में, दुर्घटनाओं से बचने के लिए लोगों ने गड्ढों में डस्टबिन डालकर संकेत दिए, ताकि वाहन चालक और पैदल चलने वाले सावधान रहें। लगातार बारिश के कारण सड़क पर पानी जमा रहने से गड्ढे दिखाई नहीं देते, जिससे बाइक सवार, ई-रिक्शा चालक और पैदल चलने वाले अक्सर फिसलकर गिर जाते हैं। स्थानीय लोगों के अनुसार, कई लोग घायल भी हो चुके हैं। यह मुख्य मार्ग होने के कारण दिनभर छोटी-बड़ी गाड़ियों का आवागमन रहता है, जिससे समस्या और गंभीर हो गई है।
स्थानीय निवासी अजय सिंह, लंबोदर मिश्र, पवन कुमार भगत, रालोमो के जिला अध्यक्ष रविशंकर कुमार उर्फ पिंटू मेहता और बिहारी साह ने बताया कि नगर पंचायत द्वारा सड़क के दोनों ओर नाला निर्माण नहीं कराया गया है। इसी वजह से बारिश का पानी निकल नहीं पाता और लंबे समय तक सड़क पर जमा रहता है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि स्कूली बच्चों को सबसे अधिक परेशानी हो रही है, और कई बच्चे गड्ढों में गिरकर चोटिल हो चुके हैं। सड़क किनारे जमा कचरे और बदबू से आसपास के लोगों का जीवन भी प्रभावित हो रहा है। स्थानीय निवासियों ने नगर पंचायत प्रशासन से अविलंब नाला निर्माण और जल निकासी की स्थायी व्यवस्था कराने की मांग की है, ताकि लोगों को इस गंभीर समस्या से राहत मिल सके।
For the past two months, the Bihari Ganj-Udakishunganj main road, near Mahavir Dharmakanta in Naya Bazar, Bihari Ganj block headquarters in Madhepura district, has been grappling with severe waterlogging. The absence of a proper drainage system has caused daily inconvenience for local residents, schoolchildren, and commuters.
Locals attempted to fill the potholes with soil and sand, but the situation reverted to its original state after rainfall. To prevent accidents, residents placed dustbins in the potholes as warning markers, as continuous rain obscures the craters. This has led to frequent slips and falls for motorcyclists, e-rickshaw drivers, and pedestrians, with several injuries reported by locals. Being a main thoroughfare, the constant movement of vehicles exacerbates the problem.
Residents Ajay Singh, Lambodar Mishra, Pawan Kumar Bhagat, RLM district president Ravishankar Kumar alias Pintoo Mehta, and Bihari Sah stated that the Nagar Panchayat has not constructed drains on either side of the road. Consequently, rainwater accumulates and remains stagnant for extended periods. They highlighted that schoolchildren are the most affected, with many falling into the potholes and sustaining injuries. The accumulated garbage and foul smell along the roadside are also impacting the lives of nearby residents. Locals have urged the Nagar Panchayat administration to immediately construct drains and implement a permanent drainage system to alleviate this pressing issue.
