The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has made a significant arrest in connection with alleged irregularities in the Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) recruitment examination conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Roshan Kumar, an Assistant Technician at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) in Mumbai, was apprehended by the EOU. Kumar is accused of orchestrating a scam in the AEDO exam, where he allegedly made a deal for Rs 25 lakh to ensure a candidate, Shweta Kumari, passed.

According to the EOU, Roshan Kumar hails from Kakaria village in the Noorsarai police station area of Nalanda district. He was appointed to BARC, Mumbai, in 2025. During the AEDO examination held on April 17, 2026, Shweta Kumari, along with biometric company employees Chandan Kumar and Rahul Kumar, were caught red-handed with an 'answer key' at the PL Sahu High School center in Sohsarai, Nalanda. Roshan Kumar's name emerged during the investigation, leading an EOU team to Mumbai on August 3, where he was arrested from the BARC center.

During interrogation, Roshan made several revelations. He had disguised himself as an employee of a jammer-installing company at the examination center, even wearing the company's T-shirt to avoid suspicion. The EOU discovered that Roshan had access to the 'answer key' of the question paper even before the exam. The investigating agency is now trying to ascertain the source and means by which he obtained this 'answer key'.

In this case, the EOU has also arrested Brajesh Yadav, the City Coordinator of Sai Educare Private Limited, a company providing manpower for biometric systems. As per the EOU, Roshan was the 'setter' of this entire fraud. He had struck a deal worth Rs 25 lakh with Kunal, Shweta's husband. Several others, including biometric company supervisors Akash Kumar, Chandan Kumar, vendor Brajesh Kumar, and district coordinators Saheb Kumar and Bablu Kumar, were involved in this scheme. Following Roshan's arrest, Supervisor Akash Kumar, also a resident of Sohsarai, Nalanda, was apprehended. Fake ID cards were used to facilitate the entry of Chandan and Rahul into the examination center.
