In Buxar, liquor smugglers attempted to run over policemen at the Veer Kunwar Singh checkpost. The incident occurred on August 25 when smugglers, transporting liquor in a Mahindra XUV, tried to enter Bihar. Police personnel at the checkpost attempted to stop them by setting up barricades, but the smugglers broke through and tried to flee. On-duty officers narrowly escaped by moving out of the way. CCTV footage of the entire incident has now emerged.

The video shows a police officer pulling a barricade when the smugglers' vehicle approaches rapidly. The car breaks through the first barricade, and a second barricade gets trapped underneath the vehicle. The smugglers dragged this barricade for about 100 meters. Realizing they were cornered, the smugglers abandoned the car a short distance away and fled.

The Excise Department team pursued and seized the vehicle. During the search, a total of 1,025 bottles of 180 ml liquor were recovered, hidden under the car seats. The Mahindra XUV used for smuggling has also been impounded. Excise Superintendent Ashraf Jamal stated that efforts are underway to identify the vehicle owner and the absconding smugglers based on the car's registration number, BR-01 PD 6325. No police personnel were injured in the incident.

Recently, due to increased water levels in the Ganga river, liquor smuggling via river routes has been disrupted, leading smugglers to attempt road transport into Bihar. Vehicle checks have been intensified at Veer Kunwar Singh checkpost, as well as at the Karmnasa bridge in Chausa and Deval bridge. This incident highlights the growing audacity of liquor smugglers.
