An attempt to block railway tracks by villagers in Buxar district on Wednesday, demanding the reopening of the Itarhi railway crossing, was thwarted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) using force. The incident occurred near Buxar railway station, where a large number of protestors had gathered. Villagers have been demanding the reopening of the Itarhi crossing for a long time, stating that its closure causes them significant inconvenience.

According to reports, hundreds of villagers gathered near the Itarhi crossing, close to Buxar railway station, on Wednesday morning. They attempted to obstruct train movement by sitting on the railway tracks. The protestors alleged that the closure of the crossing forces them to travel long distances, leading to a loss of time and money. School children and sick individuals, in particular, face considerable difficulty reaching hospitals.

Upon receiving information about the protest, RPF personnel promptly arrived at the scene. They appealed to the protestors to vacate the tracks and maintain law and order. When the protestors refused to move, the RPF had to use mild force. Following the use of force, the protestors dispersed, and the attempt to block the railway tracks was unsuccessful. A tense situation prevailed for a short while, but the RPF's swift action brought the situation under control.

RPF officials stated that obstructing railway tracks is a legal offense and can endanger passenger safety. They urged villagers to present their demands peacefully and legally to the administration.
