Preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Rajpur block of Buxar district are gaining momentum, as the elections will be conducted based on new delimitation. Following the government's announcement, it is anticipated that the number of Panchayats in Rajpur block could increase from 19 to approximately 30.

The 2011 census data, released by the Election Department, will serve as the basis for this delimitation. Rajpur block has a total population of 2,13,534, and the new delimitation framework will be prepared accordingly. This process will not only alter the boundaries of the Panchayats but also their geographical structure.

Currently, Rajpur is the smallest and Kaithahar Kala is the largest Panchayat within the block. Under the new regulations, some villages from existing Panchayats will be separated to form new ones, leading to significant changes in the local administrative setup.

With the implementation of delimitation, an increase in the number of seats for Mukhiya, Sarpanch, Panchayat Samiti members (BDC), and Zila Parishad members under the three-tier Panchayat system is expected. This could completely change the electoral equations for the upcoming polls.

However, there is also concern among locals that if the delimitation process is prolonged and the elections are postponed, new census reports due next year might necessitate further rule changes, potentially delaying the Panchayat election process even more. For now, everyone awaits the final delimitation report from the administration.
