Residents of Chapra city experienced a four-hour long power cut on Monday, disrupting daily life and business activities. The electricity department has expressed regret to consumers for the inconvenience caused. According to department officials, the power outage was due to necessary repair and maintenance work in the 33 KV Circle Feeder.

The power went out in several areas of the city from Monday morning, causing significant discomfort to people amidst the heat and humidity. Especially during the summer, the power cut rendered fans, coolers, and air conditioners inoperative, affecting children and the elderly the most. Commercial establishments also had to rely on generators, increasing their costs and hindering daily operations.

A spokesperson for the electricity department stated that some technical fault had occurred in the 33 KV Circle Feeder, necessitating extensive repair work. They clarified that this work was essential to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the future. The department added that the repair work began in the morning and was completed by afternoon, after which power supply was restored.

However, consumers have raised questions about the department's working methods. Many people stated that prior notice should be issued for such major maintenance works so that people can plan their daily routines. A local resident said, "We were not given any information about the sudden power cut, which caused us a lot of trouble. At least a day's notice should have been given."

The department has assured to adopt a better communication system to avoid such situations in the future and appealed for cooperation from consumers. They stated that their goal is to provide round-the-clock electricity to all consumers and they are continuously striving for it.
