A chowkidar (village watchman) was allegedly assaulted in the Sirdala police station area of Gopalganj district. Following the incident, the police have registered a named First Information Report (FIR) against several individuals, including the brother of a deceased woman. The assault reportedly occurred while the chowkidar was on duty. The accused allegedly misbehaved with the chowkidar and physically harmed him.

According to police sources, the incident might be linked to an old rivalry stemming from the death of a woman. The deceased woman's family, particularly her brother, was reportedly upset with the chowkidar over some issue, leading to the assault. The chowkidar filed a written complaint at the Sirdala police station, based on which the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The Superintendent of Police stated that considering the seriousness of the matter, an immediate investigation has been ordered. Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the accused. He assured that anyone taking the law into their own hands would not be spared and all accused would be arrested and brought to justice promptly. This incident has raised concerns about law and order in the area, although the police administration claims to have the situation under control. Steps are also being discussed to ensure the safety of chowkidars and protect their rights in such cases.
