A severe power crisis has gripped Churiya village in Deoria district, leaving residents without electricity and water for the past four days. The situation worsened when a newly installed transformer, meant to resolve the ongoing power outage, burnt out just hours after its installation.

The villagers reported that their previous transformer had malfunctioned, plunging the entire village into darkness. After repeated complaints to the electricity department, a new transformer was finally supplied and installed. Hopes were high among the residents that their ordeal was over and power would soon be restored. However, their relief was short-lived. The new transformer failed due to a technical fault within a few hours of being commissioned, bringing them back to square one.

The lack of electricity has also severely impacted the village's water supply. With water pumps and the 'Nal-Jal' scheme dependent on power, the absence of electricity has led to a acute water shortage. In the current hot and humid weather, the dual absence of electricity and water is causing immense hardship for everyone, from children to the elderly.

Residents are now urging the electricity department and local administration to find a swift and permanent solution to this recurring problem. They emphasize the need to identify and address the root cause of frequent transformer failures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Until power supply is restored, daily life in Churiya village remains severely disrupted.
