A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Thursday in Raghunathpur village, under the Fatehpur police station area of Gaya district. A 62-year-old mother, Sundari Devi, died attempting to save her 36-year-old son, Lala Yadav, who had been electrocuted while starting a motor pump in their field. Both mother and son tragically died on the spot, plunging the entire village into mourning and devastating their family.

According to reports, Lala Yadav had gone to his field on Thursday to irrigate his paddy crop. While starting the motor pump, he was suddenly caught by an electric current and began to struggle. Hearing her son's cries, Sundari Devi rushed to the field and, in her attempt to save him, also came into contact with the live wire. Both succumbed to the electrocution within moments at the scene.

Upon receiving news of the incident, villagers and relatives rushed to the spot, but it was too late. The news of two deaths from the same family spread quickly, causing widespread grief throughout the village. Family members are inconsolable. Villagers have accused the electricity department of negligence, stating that such accidents occur due to a lack of regular inspection of motor pumps and electrical wiring in agricultural fields. They have demanded that the department conduct safety checks and take concrete steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

A police team led by SI Ambuj Kumar from Fatehpur police station arrived at the scene. The police took custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination to Magadh Medical College Hospital. SI Ambuj Kumar stated that no written application has been received from the victim's family yet, and further legal action will be taken once it is submitted. This tragic event has deeply shocked Raghunathpur village, with residents describing it as an irreparable loss for the entire community.
